People in agriculture and agribusiness are set to travel across the state to learn from the MIA’s experts at the new facility in Griffith.
Displays and hands-on demonstrations were at the launch on Friday, with Rob Fenton showing off some organic growing, Ben Watts, Sam Ebert and sue Haddril showing off drone technology, Adam Farquharson demonstrating harvesting with a game-like simulator and many other machines and displays giving a sneak-peak of what will be on offer.
Griffith’s Head of the SkillsPoint Mark Grove said it was “fantastic” to see all the planning come to fruition, and is excited to start.
“The two key benefits is firstly, we are bringing a team of specialists to Griffith who will be working on writing all of the courses going forward,” Mr Grove said.
“Also for us we are also we are going to be the single point of contact for industry and agribusiness in TAFE for the whole on NSW, so we will have that statewide responsibility.”
TAFE NSW Minister Adam Marshall joined the member for Murray Austin Evans to officially open the new specialist facility, called a Skillspoint.
He said by working closely with industry to design and develop courses, this new facility will inject courses with the training outcomes setting students apart for future jobs, taking training deliver in agriculture and agribusiness to the next level.
Mr Evans said he was thrilled Griffith was selected to house the facility, which will create 15 new jobs in Griffith and position the area as a skills hub.
