The Riverina Field Days has quickly become an event on the Griffith calendar not to be missed.
Since relocating to Griffith in 2006, attendance each year has boomed due to the ever evolving range of attractions and quality exhibitors.
Much of that success comes down to the right combination of family and children’s attractions, entertainment, food and unique demonstrations, not to mention the variety of quality machinery and agricultural exhibitors.
The field days is the ideal opportunity to showcase the best farming practices and technology from across a wide range of industries.
Organiser and manager of the Riverina Field Days Roly Zappacosta said it is this blend of entertainment and information that gives the event its purpose.
“It is successful because of the right combination of family and kids attractions, entertainment, food, unique demonstrations, machinery and farming exhibitors,” Mr Zappacosta said. “We showcase what is new in farming, new technology and a networking opportunity for farmers to meet and discuss what they do in farming.
“This region produces the best quality food and fibre products and is widely known as the ‘food bowl’.
“The Riverina Field Days is the perfect opportunity to showcase the best farming practices and technology from all industries.
“We are a rural community and we rely heavily on farming, so we target everyone that is connected to farming, which is everyone.”

As the largest and most productive irrigated area in Australia, the MIA produces a range of fruits and vegetables, broadacre crops ranging from rice and wheat to cotton and maize, and beef and poultry.
It produces one in every four glasses of Australian wine, 25 per cent of Australia’s rice and 30 per cent of all of Australia’s citrus. As well as enough cotton in one season to make 193 million pairs of jeans, the MIA is home to Australia’s largest producers of prunes, walnuts and almonds.
In 2015-16, the gross value of agricultural production in wider the Riverina region was $2.3 billion, or 18 per cent of the total gross value of agricultural production in NSW.
As a diverse agricultural region, the Riverina’s biggest commodities were wheat ($475 million), cattle and calves ($262 million) and cotton ($188 million).
“There are booming industries such as cotton, walnuts, almonds, who are experimenting in new technology every year,” Mr Zappacosta said. “It's a credit to our farmers. It's only logical to have the Riverina Field Days in our region to help our farmers to grow and learn new and exciting things for our region to continue to grow.”
