So far this season the Hawks have drawn one match and lost the other and Puntoriero doesn’t want another week to go by without a victory.
The Hawks take on Waratah Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Yanco Sportsground, who will provide a tough challenge for the home side.
Waratahs have won two-from-two so far this season and appear to again be one of the form sides of the competition early on in the Group 20 race.
“They’ve definitely got some handy players, so we are going to need to start well and keep that going,” Puntoriero said.
“They do play a bit of ad-lib footy and it does seem to work for them.
“I haven’t seen them play yet this season, but that’s the style of footy they usually go for.
“They do make a couple of mistakes here and there because of that, so we need to pick up on that straight away.”
Yanco-Wamoon has just the one injury concern heading into Saturday’s game, with Josh Higgins under a cloud.
Last weekend the Waratahs enjoyed a solid victory over Darlington Point-Coleambally a week after Yanco-Wamoon drew with the Roosters.
The Hawks went down to Yenda at Yanco Sportsground and Puntoriero said it was discipline again that let the side down.
“We got away to a really good start again and then just let it slip,” he said.
“We can’t keep doing that and we can’t be giving away silly penalties.

“We’re not too far off (a win). I think if we can get those mistakes under control, we’ll be right.”
Making the win even more essential for the Hawks is their upcoming matches and draw.
With Saturday being their second consecutive home game, next weekend they will hit the road to West Wyalong before the bye the following week.
They will then be taking on the Griffith Black and Whites in another away game on May 20, meaning their next home game won’t be until May 27.
“I’m confident if we can cut out our penalties we will be on the right track … other than that I reckon we’re playing pretty good footy,” Puntoriero said.
