Two women became involved in a fight on Wakaden Street on Saturday.
One woman in her late 20’s approached another woman of the same age near Northside RSL and allegedly hit her in the face.
Three of her friends came to the victims assistance. The woman is described as Islander in appearance, and police are asking anyone with information on the alleged attack to come forward.
Another fight broke out on Saturday between two groups of men on Jondaryan Avenue.
A 27-year-old man and his friends were walking towards Banna Avenue when they were approached by another group of men.
The victim was allegedly hit in the face, causing a cut to his left eyebrow and swelling of the eye.
Inspector Nick Seddon said it was clear the men were intoxicated, and asked Griffith residents to be mindful of their safety when drinking.
“We are aware that these people were affected by alcohol, and we want people to take care of themselves when drunk,” he said.
“If they put themselves in danger by being intoxicated to a point where they can’t defend themselves, it poses these kinds of risks.”
Police also nabbed people in relation to drug possession and driving under the influence.
Police searched a 25-year-old man on Saturday at about 11pm on Ledgerwood Street, and found he was carrying a small amount of cannabis and a crystal substance believed to be ice.
He was charged with two counts of possession of prohibited drugs times two and will be appear before Griffith Local Court.
A 29-year-old woman has had her license suspended after running into the sign at Griffith Base Hospital.
The woman returned a positive breath-test and was arrested and taken to the police station for further breath analysis.
She returned a reading of 0.135 and will appear before Griffith Local Court for driving with a mid-range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol.
In other news, a saddle worth about $1000 was stolen from a car on Wakaden Street between 10pm on Friday and 6am on Saturday.
