The Greens will host Yenda at No. 1 Oval on Sunday afternoon and coach Clinton Green is looking forward to getting the year underway.
He said all sides had been put through their paces during the pre-season and now it was time to put all of the hard work into practice.
The Blueheelers will provide a formidable challenge for the senior side first up, having already won the Group 20 pre-season knockout.
“They are going to be pretty tough … they’ve got some good players and recruited pretty well,” Green said.
“It’s the basics we are going to need to do. Complete our sets, get our defence right.
“We need to be worrying about ourselves and not focusing too much on them.”
The Greens picked up several new players in the pre-season period, including several from their rival neighbour club in Yanco-Wamoon.

“Those guys that have come across are really looking forward to getting out and playing on Sunday, particularly in front of a home crowd,” Green said. “They want to do well.”
Brayden Scarr is the only confirmed out for the weekend, but the list could grow pending fitness tests for a couple of injured players at training on Friday night.
“If we get those guys right, apart from having ‘Scarry’ out, we should be pretty close to full strength,” Green said. “We’re shaping up pretty good, so hopefully we can start the season with a win.”
