With the Group 20 season back underway this weekend, Hawks first grade coach Nick Puntoriero is confident his side was prepared for their first game against Darlington Point-Coleambally.
“We’re not looking too bad … we’ve really worked on our fitness during pre-season,” he said.
“I’m confident we will be able to match with DPC on the weekend.
“They do have a lot of good players, including their coach, but I’m hopeful we will go well against them.”
The Hawks have lost several players since the end of last season, with several making a move to the Leeton Greens, while others have left town.
Puntoriero wasn’t able to confirm any new recruits at the moment, but said there may be news in the coming weeks.

He believes Yanco-Wamoon’s strength this season will be their youth.
“We’ve got a lot of strength in our junior teams and many of them will be pushing for a first grade spot,” Puntoriero said.
“I would say it’s a pretty even competition this year in terms of the other sides. TLU is probably the favourite going in though.”
The Hawks will play the Roosters on Sunday afternoon at Darlington Point.
