It has been a strong preseason for the Yoogali sides according to coach Rocky Marando, and both sides will be ready to fight it out in round one.
“We have had a really good preseason with both sides training together,” he said.
“Obviously we are all one club, but that doesn’t mean we will go in lightly with bragging rights on the line.”
For the Yoogali side, it is a case of making sure the side can stay in it for the entire 90 minutes which has let the side down in previous seasons according to Marando.
“We have just been making sure that we will be playing as a team rather than looking for those pieces of individual brilliance,” he said.
“We have also been putting a fair bit of work into fitness which has let us down in the past.”
It will be much the same side taking to the park this season with Marando focusing on giving the youngsters from the under 16s a chance to step up. There is one downside for the Yoogali FC heading into the weekend with a key forward set to miss the match.
“Jordan Serena will be unavailable for a couple of weeks for us, and he is one of our key attacking weapons,” he said.
The game will get underway at Hanwood Oval at 1pm
