West Wyalong have started their under 16 season strongly after picking up the Group 20 knockout title after seeing off the challenge from a determined Waratah Tigers outfit on Sunday at EW Moore Oval.

The Mallee Men got on the scoreboard in the when Toby White crossed in the corner with a successful conversion from Billy Jones gave their side a 6-0 lead with 10 minutes gone.
After looking dangerous after West Wyalong took the lead the Waratahs were finally able to answer as Jack Fury scored in the corner to set up a nail-biting finish with only two points separating the two sides heading into the final 10 minutes.
With less then a minute left in the West Wyalong put the game to bed with Myles Harland making the most of the space out wide and found a hole in the Waratahs defence.
A second successful conversion from Jones saw the Mallee Men came away with a 12-4 win and the under 16s trophy.
