Griffith Riverina Fellowship Of Australian Writers (FAW) is launching a competition set to bring out all the writers in the area to join with them and celebrate a passion for creativity.
Original stories and poems entered have the chance to win some great prizes and recognition, and a chance to have a crack.
Griffith Riverina FAW president Marilyn Sayer said is looking forward to seeing all the submissions and talent in the area.
“It’s a great chance, not so much to get recognition, which you will, but also a chance to develop your skills,” Ms Sayer said.
Categories include short stories of up to 2000 words and poems, with the sections judged in three groups: Primary years K-6, secondary years 7-12 and open.
The Griffith Riverina Federation of Australian Writers is relatively fresh in Griffith, and is hoping this competition will kick-start new interest from within the MIA to join the group.
“We are always looking for enthusiastic writers to join. It’s a great environment and meetings are always a lot of fun,” Ms Sayer said.
“It doesn’t matter if you think what you write is rubbish, it’s your rubbish, and it’s the chance to share what you write and how you feel with other like-minded people.”
