The team comprised of James Naseby, Dane O’Connor, Derek Hogno and Carl Zirilli finished third at the Riverina carnival held in Albury recently and will now head off to compete at Homebush on April 12.
The four students have been showing their dedication in the lead up to the events with the boys training hard.
“I've been going to the pool in the morning and in the afternoon,” James said.
While the other three year six students have been putting in laps at least twice to three times a week in the lead up to the various carnivals.
While Dane has competed at state before through swimming as well as other sports, it will be the first time from Derek, James and Carl and they were excited for the day to roll around while also being nervous about the trip.
“Well I'm the first swimmer, so I'll be a bit scared,” Derek said.
The April 12 date also holds significance for Carl with it falling on his birthday.
Any celebrations will be postponed until after the race has been run.
“I think I will have that (cake) after we are done,” Carl said.
