Coro won the toss and elected to bat with the father-son combination of Jamie and Dean Bennett opening up for the Cougars.
The pair were able to put on 41 runs for the first-wicket before Jamie Bennett (20) fell to the bowling of Danny Dossiter (1/44) while Peter Taprell (4) fell to the bowling of Michael Duncan soon after.
Dean Bennett took the leading role in a 43-run stand with Ben Taylor to get the side to within nine runs of the hundred mark before Duncan (2/23) picked up Taylor (6) while Mark Favell (2/23) followed it up with the wicket of Justin Moat (1).
Bennett continued his run-scoring form but finding a partner proved more difficult as Brady French (7) and Chase Verri (7) fell before Nick Witherspoon combined well with Bennett to add some crucial late runs with a 46-run stand for the seventh wicket.
Witherspoon (29) and Bennett (78) fell in quick succession to see Coro finish on 8/183 after their 40 overs.
Diggers needed to make a strong start and were able to as Favell and Duncan put on 43-runs for the first wicket before Duncan was caught off the bowling of Dion Pascoe (1/16).
Leon Vico was able to help Favell maintain Diggers forward momentum early in their innings, but with the score on 70, Vico (10) and Favell (23) fell to the bowling of Dean Bennett while Jamie Bennet picked up Brendan Wade (0).
Rocky Perre and Jack Favell tried to steer their side out of a dangerous position with a 24-run stand to get their side to the hundred mark before Perre (13) became Dean Bennett’s (3/25) third wicket of the day.
While Favell (20), Brett Owen (15) and Sean O’Rouke (17*) were able to get starts, Diggers came up 22 runs short finishing on 161 when they were bowled out in 38.4 overs.
