After breaking a 14-year-old record in the 50m Backstroke event at the Griffith East Swimming Carnival she back up her performance as she was crowned age champion at the Griffith PSSA Zone carnival held recently.
Cadence was happy with how she performed in both carnivals.
“I think I went pretty good at the school on and again at the Zone, I went pretty good,” she said.
The 11-year-old has been the age champion at Griffith East for the last four years and along the way has represented at state twice as well as at Riverina level for the last three years.
Cadence’s father Richard Busby feels it comes down to her willingness to train.
“She has been training since she was a baby. She progressed through the schools here and has been apart of Griffith Swim Club since she was seven,” he said.
“She is quite dedicated to her training, training five days a week for a 10-year-old, so we think she is doing pretty well.
“She has really stepped it up this year. She broke the record for Backstroke at Griffith East didn't break any at the Zone carnival but went pretty close.”
