The side will be hoping to cement there position when they take on fourth-placed Leagues Club at West End Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The key will be the form of the Rand brothers, Tim and Rob, at the top of the order for the Cougars. The pair is averaging an opening partnership of 63 in the last three matches, so if Leagues can make an early breakthrough, it will help their chances of picking up the points.
Heading into the game, the Cougars are holding onto first by a singular point ahead of Exies in the fight for the minor premiership which would be there third in as many years.
Leagues will be coming into the game off the back of a convincing win over Hanwood which saw Satvir Chahal and Logan Matheson finding form heading into the final round of the season.
The Cougars have taken out the last two meeting between the two sides in round 15 and round 10 with Leagues taking out the round five encounter.
