The Narrandera man was punched and robbed after leaving his vehicle to assist someone lying in the middle of the road.
He was driving from work at 12.45am when he came across the stranger.
“I saw someone lying on the road. I pulled over to see if they were alright – it’s something I’ve done before. I bent over to see if they were alright and I got a smack in the head,” he said.
“I was knocked to the ground. My shoes were taken and as I got up my shirt was ripped.”
The thieves took his wallet, but thankfully Mr Minnick escaped serious injury.
“It was pretty gutless. I work for what I get. When you’ve got two against one, it’s a pretty gutless act as far as I’m concerned.”
At what was supposed to be a Merry time of the year, he says he’s disappointed in the actions of the thieves.
“It’s supposed to be a time of giving and helping out, but when this sort of thing happens it kind of puts a dent in all of that,” he said.
“It’s something you don’t expect to happen, but it could happen to anyone.
The two offenders are described as standing around six feet tall, wearing black clothing.
