Griffith City Boxing travelled to Dubbo with two local fighters competing in their first tournaments on Saturday night.
Todd Grainger fought Dubbo footballer Wade Cavanagh who proved to be a tough street style fighter. Todd should have continued to use his superior style of boxing to outsmart his opponent but instead chose to use a defensive stance giving his opponent a chance to capitalise with his strong, moving forward style of attack. He looked good when he boxed and showed he has a promising future, but the local footballer was given points win.
In the first fight of the night, Lucas Leasiolagi took on Brad Mills-May. Lucas became dominant in the first round and continued this into the second and looked to have Mills-May in trouble but began to tire as time wore on. When fatigue set in, Mills-May was able to catch up and do enough to get the win.
Lucas showed he can box and fight, and with some experience and serious training will be an exciting fighter to watch.
