Griffith under 12 side continued to battle hard for a win in the Derek Rogers Cup. Griffith were up against a strong Cootamundra side on Sunday at Ted Scobie Oval.
Cootamundra won the toss and sent Griffith into bat. Griffith made a positive start by their openers Ben Fattore and Sean Culgan who put on 29 runs before both fell in quick succession.
Cooper Rand and Billy Evans were able to take the score to 3/64 but when those two were out on the same score the Griffith innings fell away to finish on 9/78 after 35 overs. Ben Fattore top scored with 18 and Billy Evans made 17.
Griffith opening bowlers Billy Evans and Daniel Whitworth put good pressure on the Cootamundra batsmen but only one wicket fell in the opening overs. Cootamundra batsmen slowly got on top and passed Griffith’s score for the loss of two wickets. Billy Evans finished with 1/0 off three overs and Kieran Casey took 1/6.
