We have to stop using plastic bags right now.
Here are my reasons why we have to put plastic bags to an end:
- They take 1,000 years to disintegrate
- They kill animals
- Finally, plastic bags destroy the environment.
So let’s get started.
To begin with, plastic bags take a millennia to disintegrate! If we keep using plastic bags at this rate, we will eventually have a very polluted Earth. Seeing as plastic bags take 1,000 years to break down, and we use millions a day, there will be a lot of bags and a lot of time to degrade! A millennia is an extremely long amount of time to pollute the Earth. Let’s protect the environment by not using the bag so then they don’t take 1,000 years to break down.
Secondly, plastic bags kill animals. How do plastic bags kill animals, you may ask. Well, they go over any type of animals mouth and suffocate to death. Also, birds and other creatures can digest the plastic which kills them. Do you really want that to happen until we run out of animals?! Please make sure you don’t kill wild animals with you plastic bag!
Without a doubt, plastic bags destroy the green environment. The terrible plastic bag destroys the environment by going to your local landfill and dissolving into our Earth which pollutes Earth. Also a single plastic bag can blow around on the surface of the ground for ages until it enters our oceans and seas which can kill animals like I said before. Let’s protect our environment! Now let’s not destroy the environment by banning the bag!
In the end, all I need to say is let’s work together and protect our environment and animals by banning the ‘Earth Destroying’ Plastic Bag!
Elsie Barton is a Griffith East student, in Melissa Graham’s Year 3 class. Her classmates also wrote letters.
Isabella:
We must not use plastic!! Why you ask? It kills animals, it is not recyclable and it destroys the environment.
NSW MUST NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS!
First of all, plastic bags kill animals. Do you want to kill animals? The way plastic bags find
their way to marine life is when we drop plastic in any type of water like rivers or stream.
The plastic gets carried away to the ocean or sea, marine life think it is food. NSW needs to
take plastic off marine life’s menu.
On the other hand, plastic is not recyclable. When we put our plastic bag in the bin it goes to
landfill, they dig a huge hole where we put all our non-recyclable things like plastic. If we
want to continue using plastic bags we need to make them recyclable.
I am certain that plastic destroys the green environment. We are polluting the ocean by
letting it float on the surface. Also one single plastic bag can take an extremely long time to
disintegrate.
Do you want to destroy the environment?
Did you know that the ACT, SA, and WA have already dealt with this big problem?
Michael:
WE HAVE TO STOP USING PLASTIC BAGS
NOW.
I will tell you why, it can kill animals and it takes 1,000 years to break
down. We have to stop putting plastic bags in the tip; stop using plastic bags
now! I am sure that in another decade plastic bags will be everywhere.
Animals think plastic is food, like turtles think it is jellyfish and eat it. Then it
enters their digestive system blocking their system so they die. If you don’t
want animals to die then you need to ban plastic bags.
We must stop using plastic bags because they end up in the tip. They take
1,000 years to break down. That is too long in the ground, imagine the damage
there will be. Would you like to see life die or would you want to help life to
grow? Please stop using these nasty plastic bags if you don’t it will be your
fault.
As you can now see plastic bags have to be banned today! Let’s make it how it
was in the beginning, well let’s start.
Harrison:
Plastic Bags are killing innocent animals, it is a waste of water and it takes 1,000 years to
break down. We need to stop using bags.
The plastic bags are killing animals. They can kill a whale or marine life. They eat plastic
because they might think it’s food. It can kill them.
The bag is a nemesis to mankind! Bags are made out of chemicals like polyethylene,
nitrogen, and sulphur. This is so bad for the environment.
Everyone needs to stop using plastic bags. We need to use reusable bags when we go
shopping. So, make a difference now!

We have to get rid of plastic bags this instant! The three reasons why are that they kill animals, it destroys the environment and lastly it can choke babies. So we must stop this NOW!
As I explained it kills animals, especially marine life but mostly fish. Fish often think plastic bags are food which is bad for them, turtles think plastic bags are jellyfish and eat it and die. So stop putting your plastic bags in the water!
The second reason is that it destroys the environment. Sometimes I go to the river and see plastic bags just flying around. Now in plain words, stop letting your plastic bags fly away!
Finally it can choke babies because they can eat the plastic bags and they can put it on their head and choke on it. Which is why plastic bags usually say 0-3 keep out reach, so don’t give your plastic bags to your children.
So there are my three reasons on why we should ban the bag. We need to stop this NOW!!!!!
We need your help to ban the bag. Do you know that plastic bags kill animals, they wreck our planet and they also break easily? This has to stop!
Sarah:
Who loves cute little animals like birds and thousands of marine animals? Well if you do you won’t like hearing that plastic bags are killing them. Birds could get hungry and think that a plastic bag is food. For example, a bird could think that a red plastic bag is a cherry and eat it. This causes the bird to die of choking or getting clogged up. The same things happen with marine animals but the only difference is it’s more likely for it to happen to marine animals. Marine animals live inside every ocean and plastic bags are heading to the ocean every single second. Water is different to land and once a plastic bag hits the ocean it can’t get out. However with air plastic bags will get blown around and only get trapped if it gets stuck on a bush or tree branch. An example of these marine animals dying is that a turtle can think a plastic bag is a jelly fish and since turtles eat jelly fish they can die. This can happen to any animal trying to get food. Another example is a small marine animal that needs air can start heading back up for air and get caught in a plastic bag. This will make them sink and die. We need to stop these animals from dying by banning the bag.
Also after you finish using plastic, it gets sent to the giant holes called the dumps. Plastic bags also get put in the dump. This means that when these dumps get full and they seal up the hole the plastic bags sit under the ground until they break down. A plastic bag takes roughly one thousand years to break down which means plastic bags will one day be covering most of Earth’s lower surface. This cannot continue!
Last but not least have you ever had your handy plastic bag and you’re heading to the car then……?
“BANG! CRASH! TING!”
Everything that you just bought is scattered all over the floor and in your hand is a plastic bag with a gigantic hole in it! So much for that handy plastic bag!
Help us ban the bag for the animals, our Earth and you. That’s why we have to ban the bag.
