The wet weather has put a dampener on Yenda Christmas celebrations, with the cancellation of the Carols by Candlelight, which was set to be held this afternoon (Sunday).
The forecast, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, predicts a 20 per cent chance of a shower this afternoon, with chilly winds coming from the west and southwest.
Yenda Carols by Candlelight committee member Frank De Rossi said the executive decision was made earlier this morning, and was very disappointing for everyone involved.
“After all the hard work everyone has put it, it is certainly a shame to cancel,” Mr De Rossi said.
“But it is already so wet, and it will be cold as well, and for parents with little kids it’s not ideal – and who knows what the weather will do tonight.”
He said there would be no rescheduling of the event, as re-organising everyone proved logistically challenging.

The 2017 Yenda Community Carols by Candlelight was to be held in the centre of town at the Yenda Memorial Park.
“We still want to have a lighting up of the Christmas tree, and we hope to make a date for it on Monday,” Mr De Rossi said.
“We wish to show our appreciation of Griffith City Council for their help this Christmas.”
