Summer and a thunderstorm rumbled onto Scenic Hill on Saturday for race three of the Hotfoot competition and despite the nasty weather and a smaller turnout of only the dedicated few, some good times were still recorded.

Rain at the start got the temperature down to pleasantly cool, but then it rose during the run as much as it had dropped and steamy to boot, so the water stop atop HaHa Hill was well placed and well used.

Blake Wiseman scored a win on his first official run, despite being given a serious start time, so there is obviously talent there.
Good effort from Matt Kenny on a tough day, starting second to last and overtaking all but one to get second at the line, fastest time of the day, and also second fastest of the competition.
Roy Binks at third was also unfazed by the heat but should know better than to sprint the younger ones for the line, while Lena Sergi was fourth and fastest of the day, and just a few seconds slower than last week.
Isabella Salmon smashed the short for first and fastest, then Connor Moore second, and Callum Vecchio third and fastest.
Then came the oldies, Elio Minato, Michael Colaciuri and Grantley Hodge, enviously whingeing about the knee-highs whisking passed too fast.
Believe it or not we are already halfway through this (only) six race competition and the Long is a two horse race between Lena Sergi and Matt Kenny - anyone thinking otherwise will have to do something fast.
But the race for the trophy in the Short is still anyone’s - Isabella Salmon leads but five others are clipping her heals.
With the weather warming up it is time Joggers did their revision of the hot weather guidelines which can be found on the FAQ page of the website, and as well, with the warmer times they can expect their pace to slump and their times to balloon.
The Joggers meet every Saturday with a current choice of 3.1 or 6.1 kilometres on the tracks and trails of Scenic Hill, starting 5:30pm from the water tower opposite Pioneer Park Museum, be early to register.
