Placing third in the Ms Bikini Mommas section at the Natlympia I Compete Natural (ICN) World Titles was the icing on the cake.
Dee competed against another six women in her section, the best in the world, and was understandably daunted at the prospect of coming up against such strong determined women.
After sixth and fifth place was called, followed by another, Dee came to the conclusion the judges had forgotten her.
“I was standing there thinking, oh wow I didn’t come fifth again, but when I was announced as coming in third, it was unreal,” she said.
Her trainer Jason Grogan from Jason’s Gym said he wasn’t surprised at the result, as her condition just kept showing improvement after improvement throughout the competitions in Canberra and Melbourne.
“We were going through photos and could really see a lot of positive changes,” Jason said.
“She pulled off the angels and poses perfectly which got her through, as there were a couple of bodies there similar to Dee’s, but she came off pretty dynamic.”
After coming so far and doing so well, Dee says she is even more excited to look forward to competitions in 2018, starting in April.
“The plan now is to put on a little more weight and gain some more muscle so by the start of January I’ll be preparing for the next comp,” she said.
Preparation won’t take quite as long this time, as she has lost the weight and tightened up skin so now she can move forward and focus on perfecting muscle tone.
Her incredible journey, which started with her determination to lose 32kg in six months, has inspired other mums in Griffith to train with her and focus on competitions.
There has been a lot of interest from other mums around town now, so we are pretty hopeful of having a team represent at competitions next year.

“There has been a lot of interest from other mums around town now, so we are pretty hopeful of having a team represent at competitions next year,” she said.
“It should make a real difference.”
She competed in the National Titles in Melbourne earlier in the year, and placed fifth in the Ms Bikini Mommas section competing against 13 other Australian mothers, while lucking out in the Ms Bikini 30+ and Ms Bikini Open category.
The I Compete Naturally competition saw athletes from around the world compete. Over 30 countries signed up to find out who would be crowned the best.
