After a tough loss last weekend, Coro will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on an in-form Diggers side.
The task will be made harder with the news of Mitchell William-Hedges injury after he went down in the final overs of Griffith’s Murrumbidgee Big Bash final against West Wyalong with Coro captain Haydn Pascoe saying he would be surprised if he makes a return before Christmas.
“He had to get his ankle put in a cast and put in a boot,” he said.
“It looks like he is going to need surgery so he will be out of a while.”
Coro will also be without the service Andrew Potter to make the task even more difficult.
Diggers are enjoying a successful start to the season coming into the game off the back of two straight wins including a final over win over Leagues last weekend.
Diggers captain Theo Valeri has led the way with both the bat and ball in his first season back in Griffith.
He has hit 123 runs in his three games at an average of 61.5 with one half-century while he has also picked up seven wickets at an average of 8.71 with one five-wicket haul.
Pascoe said it goes to show their good job of bringing in new players.
“They have recruited really well in the offseason,” he said.
“There are a few guys there who will be able to win the game for them.
“I think if we turn up I think we should be able to get something out of the game.”
Having fallen in a convincing fashion last weekend to Exies, Pascoe knows where his side needs to improve, but the area of concern will be difficult to rectify with the two major outs in Potter and Williams-Hedges.
“We need to improve our bowling,” he said.
“It sets the tempo for the game, and it has been a bit down in recent weeks.
“Hopefully we are able to improve on that and try to get the momentum in our favour especially if we are bowling first.”
