
THE Two Person Ambrose event at the Griffith Golf Club last Saturday provided a huge highlight for Steve Marland who achieved every golfer’s dream - a hole in one on the par-three 16th.
He then combined with John Harrison to win the event of the day, shooting par 71 to card 61 net.
They also combined to card birdies on the second and 13th.
Adrian Smith and Adrian Kidd combined to shoot two under par 69, 62 net second, with birdies on the 7th, 12th and 13th. Michael Morrell and Kevin Purtell 72, 62.5 net were third with birdies 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th.

A good field of 42 players contested a single stableford on Sunday.
Brett Angel, 40 points, won A Grade, nailing birdies on the 3rd and 16th.
Ian Smith, 38 points, second, carding birdies on the 6th, 8th and 15th.
Wayne Bottcher, 38 points, won B Grade, draining a birdie on the 8th on a countback over Jim Dickie, 38 points, a birdie on the 7th.
Philip Plunkett, 38 points, won C Grade, four point pars on the 3rd and 14th over John Elllis, 35 points.
Geoff Cotterill won the 7th pin, Wayne Tyndall 11th.
Vouchers to 34 points.
The Club is again running the PHL Surveyors Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, November 7.
The event is a Four Person Ambrose. The entry includes bacon and egg roll breakfast, lunch, etc. Open to non members.
The Caltex 5s kicked off last Monday, October 9, with over 30 teams.
There is still time to enter, just contact the Pro Shop and pick up a registration form and take advantage of the $120 six month club membership.
Today’s event, along with Saturday and Sunday, are all single stablefords and members are also advised that the recent club survey results are now available.
The veterans played a single stableford last Thursday with 38 players.
Graham Sibraa, 35 points, won 0-18 Grade from Tony McBride, 34 points. Michael Carnell, 39 points, won 19-27 Grade, Doug McWilliam, 38 points second.
Mike Heddiitch, 34 points, won 28-36 Grade from Gordon Druitt, 31 points.

There is still time to enter the Veterans Week of Golf Tournament which starts on Monday, October 23.
There will be the usual welcome on Sunday around 5pm.
The event for veterans this week is a a 4 BB Stableford, each group must have at least three players.
