Black and Whites under 16s women’s side have made an impact in women’s rugby league having brought the silverware back to Griffith.
In the grand final, they were able to defeat the Albury Thunder team 40-0 and those scorelines were the standard for the side.
“We only had four points scored against us in the five games across the weekend,” coach Shailyn Williams said.
“I think we ended up scoring around 200 points over the weekend, but our defence was the standout aspect.”
Their performance brought praise from Albury coach Craig Blackhall.
““Griffith Black and Whites would have put it to half the senior sides,” he said.
“They were a big side.”
While Lily-Belle Misiloi picked up player of the grand final, Williams felt it was a great team performance.
“I only took ten girls away, and they all did really well,” she said.
“It really was just a great team effort and with women’s rugby league starting to take off its great to give the girls this opportunity.”
