It’s a case of building on what the side started to show late last season for Hanwood when they take on Diggers in the first round of the GDCA season.

While Hanwood missed finals last year narrowly, captain Dean Catanzariti is confident his side can carry the form they showed late last season into this year.
“We should have a side similar to last year,” he said.
“We played well at the end of last season, and hopefully we can continue that into this season.”
While it will be a similar side to last season, the Hanwood side will start missing a few regulars including Catanzariti.
Heading into the season, the skipper knows where his side needed to improve.
“Last year our batting was always the things that let us down,” he said.
“We started to show improvement late last season, so hopefully we can continue that this season.”
For Diggers, they will be looking to start this season like they did last year where they found themselves winning their first three games before slumping in the middle of the season.
They were able to pick up the Twenty20 competition after a strong performance from Trevor Richards.
In the sides, head-to-head meetings last season Diggers did have the edge over Hanwood winning three of their four encounters.
The match will start the first-grade season when the first ball is bowled out an Hanwood Oval starting at 1pm on Saturday.
