Wil Donaldson is the new NSW State Champion for 12yrs 100m Butterfly, winning the event in time of 1.04.76 on the weekend in Sydney
"It was going to be a hard race as there were four us with really close qualifying times,” he said.
“I knew I would have to put everything I had into the swim if I wanted to place. I could see one of them catching me and that's when I decided I really wanted to win"
He also cemented his place in the top five 12yr old swimmers in the state, coming 4th in the 100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 200 Individual Medley and 5th in the 200m Butterfly.
"I haven't really decided which is my favourite stroke yet - but at the moment, it's definitely Butterfly"
He will now start preparing for the summer season with his eye firmly on qualifying for Nationals in May next year.
