With an all local cast and production team, Griffith Regional Theatre and Griffith Real Estate present WICKED – the Untold Story of the Witches of Oz.
The 10-show season opened Wednesday night at 7.30pm and tickets are selling fast!
Griffith Regional Manager, Raina Savage said the theatre is bursting with excitement to be presenting the singing, and dancing from the incredible local cast in a high-octane production.
“The chemistry between the two leads – Deanna Farnell as Elphaba – the Wicked Witch of the West, and Simone Crossley – as Goody Two shoes Galinda – is electrifying.
“They are both true stars, with incredible voices and hilarious on stage,” Ms Savage said.
“They are well supported by John Martin as the Wizard, Jack Martin as love interest Fiyero, with Jenny Ellis, Brian Simpson, Conor Close and Elena Turenen in the other lead roles - plus an ensemble of all ages and experience, with dancers and fantastic musicians, all bringing endless passion and enthusiasm to their roles.”
Tony Santolin, Manager of Griffith Real Estate said Griffith Real Estate is excited to be a supporter of this world class community production.
“We are appreciative to have the opportunity to give so many locals who are a part of this superb production the chance to broaden their theatre talents.
This is an amazing show that so many people have put in countless hours in to create and we are proud to play our part in the production of it,” he said.
Theatre legend Don Hillam heads up the production team of talented locals – including Deeanna Farnell voice coach, Matt Segrave - musical director, Michelina Di Salvatore as choreographer, John Matkovic in lighting design, and Tara Suidgeest, with Heath and Betty Neville head up the energetic backstage team.
“We have thrown everything at this show to make it an unforgettable experience. The production values are like nothing that has been seen in Griffith before - as good as or better than anything you would see from an international production,” Mr Hillam said.
“We have professional sets and gorgeous costumes from CLOC Musical Theatre in Melbourne, flying witches, fantastic effects, and the Theatre has invested in brand new stage lighting to make sure everything and everyone on stage looks their very best.
“I have been directing shows since 1978 and I have never seen or been part of anything this big!”
Ms Savage said the show is a ‘truly an extravagant, once in a lifetime experience’ for people in the Western Riverina.
