And so they did, taking out the match 42-18 at the Darlington Point sportsground as the weekend wound down.
The home team continued its strong start to the season, having conceded the least points of any team in the competition.
This latest win places them second on the ladder, with an equal 14 points to top team Griffith Black and Whites.
McGoldrick was hopeful the Hawks would test his side in Sunday’s match, saying Yanco-Wamoon had typically been a tough opponent on the field.
The loss has placed the Hawks sixth on the ladder.
On the back of their win the Roosters will face off against a strong Griffith Black and Whites on Saturday, June 24. The clash between the two top of the table teams will be held at EW Moore Oval.
