For Wagga’s Abu Kebe, spending five days practicing drama skills is more than a fun excursion, it’s a gateway to his career.
Abu is one of 83 of the Riverina’s most promising young actors, who have thrown themselves into poetry readings, script work, slapstick and mastering audition workshops.
An aspiring actor, Abu said he’d learned much more than technical skills from a range of industry professionals.
“We’ve spoken a lot about taking every opportunity and not letting rejection bring you down,” Mr Kebe said.
“We’d never have had the chance to work on those skills without this.”
Melbourne dancer Skylar Delphinus returned to Australia specifically for the camp, after performing in China for a pop group.
“I grew up in a small town and I didn’t have opportunities like this so I want to inspire people,” Ms Delphinus said.
“It doesn’t matter where you’re from, you can succeed.”
The students will perform at a concert at Wagga High School on Saturday at 7pm.
