Residents in the Wakaden Street locale now have access to additional features in McKirdy Park.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi welcomed the new upgrades and said it will be a wonderful asset for residents in the area, saying the park “looks extremely impressive with activities selected to allow the community to enjoy this previously under-utilised open space.”
The upgrades include a beach volleyball court, a table tennis table, a barbecue, shelter, bubbler and seating.
Council funds and a grant for $25,000 under the Sport Facility Program, facilitated by Sport and Recreation to install the volleyball court.
“The popularity of the newly developed park suggests the facility is welcomed and valued by the community, we are hopeful that sense of value and ownership extends into the future and this very important community resource will be respected and not vandalised” Cr Dal Broi said.
Cr Dal Broi also wished to “thank the NSW Government for funding this extremely worthwhile project, Council’s Planning and Urban Design team who managed the project and the local contractors who undertook the work.”
“Special thanks must be extended to Adrian Dal Broi at A & K Plant Hire for his tireless commitment to the project”, he said.
