The 54th annual Griffith Lions Club changeover dinner was a success by anyone’s measure, as the club welcomed its new executive team and celebrated the success of the year’s endeavours on Tuesday night.
The efforts of outgoing president Brian Bortolin were celebrated at the dinner with fellow member Ross Catanzariti praising Mr Bortolin’s “amazing” efforts.
But the man of the hour was incoming president Geoff Gardiner who Mr Catanzariti was confident would again do the club proud.
“With him coming on board we will have no problem keeping in the right direction,” he said.
It was a big year for the Lion’s club with their efforts to support local woman Kay Catanzariti and her movement ‘Will it your way’ helping garner further national support.
“We have been pushing ‘Will it your way’ for the last three years and when we got to the start of May we had a national convention in Hobart and it was actually accepted as a national project for Lions,” Mr Catanzariti said. “There is a fair bit the club does to support the local community through different projects like our phone directory, the centenary wall and putting dollars into things like the private hospital.”
