A great turnout of 130 runners enjoyed the cool but pleasant conditions on Scenic Hill for race 7 of the winter competition.
Angus Gunn followed the same procedure as his brother Hamish. He completed a reconnaissance run last week and stole the show this this week to take the honours in the Long Course. Very shrewd and fast are these Gunns.
Rita Facianelli-Mciver finally returned to her old form after months of dawdling to nab second spot. Her first podium finish for a very long while. Maybe she was just playing us for suckers? Karin Penninga, Tony Rockov and Adrian Baird madly fought each other to tie for third spot.

Karin and Tony will no doubt battle even more ferociously next week in the final race of the series to decide the competition winner. Karin has a twenty-point lead over Tony, but will still need a very strong performance to deny Tony the chocolates.
The frenzied finish continued with Matthew Ross one second behind in sixth just beating off Chis Smith a second later. John Keenan pulled off his fastest time in this series to capture eighth position. Aidan Fattore and Andres Alduan rounded off the top ten.
Elio Minato followed a recent trend and found the top of Dom’s Dilemma a good spot to try out a three-point landing and “souvenir” a little of the track.
The usual suspects Aidan Fattore and Narelle Lagergren were the fastest.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Andreazza in achieving her first win in the Short course. She was followed by a couple of newbies in Luke Price-Taylor and Ava Low. Great to see inexperienced runners on the podium.
Cooper Savage and Jai Kenny finished quickly to share fourth position. Mackenzie Trotter made her debut taking sixth position. Lynette Kenny followed in seventh.
Jack Mingay rocketed through the field to come in eighth and record the fastest time.
Anna Price -Taylor and Margaret Andreazza completed the top ten. Fastest female was Louise Gunn.
It’s all set up for a cracker finish in the short course. Louise Gunn and Milla Vecchio share the lead with 141 points and on their heels is James Morshead on 139 points. Expect blood, sweat and tears in pursuit of the Winter series trophy.
The joggers meet every Saturday at the water tower on the hill opposite Pioneer Park at 4.30 pm. Please arrive early to register. For more comprehensive results and news, check out the feral website www.griffithferals.org.au
