Make a push to help Griffith grow, prosper

LAST week Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli sent out a standard press release, but this time there was something in there Griffith residents should take note of.

The information in the release outlined state government grant money that is available for businesses, councils, chambers of commerce and the link to put together a project or campaign aimed at encouraging city dwellers to move to regional areas.

While many might see this information and flick it to their bin, it is important initiatives like this are taken up.

Sure Griffith currently has a supposed “rental crisis”, but the city shouldn’t be knocking back newcomers to town.

Griffith is a fantastic place to live.

It’s a small city in its own right with plenty of things to see and do – you just have to scratch the surface a little deeper sometimes to find out what they are.

There’s fantastic wine, restaurants, shopping and much more.

It would be great to see more city people moving to our area and appreciating all of these.

While living in the city certainly has its benefits and it would no doubt be a huge adjustment moving to Griffith, there’s numerous other reasons why it could be the best change for someone sick of the rat race.

Houses are more affordable, the cost of living (while still a struggle) is certainly much more easier to have under control and the schools are fantastic.

However, Griffith’s biggest asset has always been its people and that remains the same today.

Griffith has always been happy to welcome new people to town and essentially show them the ropes.

The city should be welcoming growth into the future and coming up with a campaign to move to our great area is something that should be given serious thought.

It would be fantastic if this were to result in some city residents making their tree change and pulling up permanently in Griffith.

Even better if these people bring with them their skills, knowledge and motivation.

That’s the type of people that would certainly help Griffith to grow and prosper well into the future. There’s no reason why the city shouldn’t have a crack at this.
