Bewildered Griffith mum Suzie Que still struggles to contemplate how a long lost Christmas gift made its way from Leeton to Griffith recently.
Betty Boo’s owner Betty Neville mysteriously came into possession of a child’s handmade Christmas ornament in November 2016 .
The purple star photo frame was adorned with glitter, stickers, crystals and wrapped delicately with a pink ribbon and showcasing a photo of a little girl.
Mrs Neville knew the priceless gift was meant to be a parent’s Christmas present.
Confident she recognised the little girl, Mrs Neville placed the frame on top of her computer, with all intentions of returning it to the family.
Her good intentions fell to the way side, as the months passed by. Until last week when a customer caught sight of the frame, naming the young girl.
The discovery not only made Mrs Neville second guess herself but also reignited her wish to return the precious gift. She decided to put a call out on Facebook attaching a photo of the frame.
Within minutes of the post going up, she was inundated with messages naming the young girl as Jazelle.
Meanwhile Ms Que, the mother of the mystery girl, was being contacted be friends telling her of the photo.
Ms Que had never seen the photo of her daughter, but promptly came to the conclusion it was Jazelle.
“People were showing me, and I asked them to send me a clearer picture of the photo,” Ms Que explained. “I was looking and thinking it can’t be her, I was like that’s her preschool photo.”
Ms Que remains bewildered with how the Christmas gift made its way to Griffith, as the photo was originally taken when they were still living in Leeton.
“It’s not as if she has brought it home and I left it at an old house, I have never seen this before,” Ms Que said.
Needless to say Ms Que was ecstatic to receive her late Christmas gift.
“She is 10 this year and she was three or four in the photo,” Ms Que said. “I have lost a lot of things moving back and forth from Leeton to Griffith and I don’t have much from her preschool days, so its even more special.”
Ms Que is hoping someone might shed light on the mysterious journey the ornament had travelled.
