Mr Henderson, a father of two who now lives in Western Australia with his wife and family, previously lost his mother to the same disease.
It was a cause the team was quick to jump on board with, according to Luke Papandrea.
“Lee is the eldest of five boys and he has a family of his own, we want to help out as much as we can, they are seeking overseas trials which aren’t free, living costs and all the rest,” he said.
On Friday from 10am – 2pm the office will open up to all for a special fundraising lunch, and the chance to take home some priceless football memorabilia. “It is $10 entry at the door, all food and drink will be supplied, everyone is welcome,” Mr Papandrea said.
“Up for grabs we have an AC Milan 2009/2010 season signed squad jersey, notable players in that team were Ronaldinho, David Beckham, Andrea Pirlo, we have an Inter Milan jersey from the 2010/2011 season signed by Samuel Eto and others and a Juventus jersey signed by Del Piero.” The jerseys were all donated by Callagher Real Estate in Sydney.
