I AM getting so irritated lately. If it isn’t some person trying to fix my computer (for a considerable amount of money), it is someone asking me to donate to a charity. Now, I have donated to everything under the sun – you name it, they have gotten my money!
BUT, I become cranky at when they make these calls – usually when I am trying to rest, or cook dinner. (I ruined a lovely old saucepan because I let the rhubarb cook while I led one caller up the garden path.)
They have NO chance of getting anything out of me, except to lead them on. One chap tried to tell this “aged, feeble and stuttering” female how to give him access to my accounts. In the end, he asked if he could talk to someone else, gave up, and swore at me. Nasty man treating an elderly lady like that!
I was astounded some years ago when our then mayor told volunteers at an afternoon tea, that we had saved the council more than $80,000. Since then volunteers have continued to save the city, and other organisations, thousands of dollars.
What is happening today, that organisations seem not to have any money? Perhaps taxes should include an element to be set aside for scientific endeavours to provide research into cancer, MS – the list goes on.
Perhaps there could be some thought given to combining some organisations – say the various groups which work for cancer in different ways.
