POLICE officers were assaulted while attempting to break up an altercation at a licensed premises in Griffith last weekend.
Police were conducting a walkthrough about 1.20am on Saturday at a licensed premises in Banna Avenue when they witnessed a physical altercation between two patrons.
While police were making inquiries a 26-year-old woman allegedly attempted to assault police and was placed under arrest. While detaining the female, one of the men allegedly assaulted an officer, punching him to the neck. The 26-year-old man was arrested and was allegedly found to be in possession of a knife.
Both were conveyed to Griffith Police Station where the woman was charged with assault, resisting police and intimidation. She was placed on conditional bail to appear at Griffith Local Court on March 22.

Fuel thief strikes
Fuel was stolen from vehicles at two sites in the Griffith area. Diesel was taken from two vehicles at road works in the Hanwood area between 4pm Friday, February 17 and 8am Saturday, February 18.
Between similar times diesel was also stolen from a vehicle at a construction site in Beelbangera.
Electronic goods, backpacks and cash were also stolen from a residential premises on Benerembah Street between 1.40am and 3.40am on Saturday, February 18.
A number of people asleep in the house at the time were not disturbed by the offender.

A 22-year-old man was charged with High Range PCA after he was stopped at a stationary RBT site in Macarthur Street at about 12.40am Saturday, February 18.
The man returned a positive reading on the roadside test and was arrested and conveyed to Griffith Police Station where a breath analysis returned a reading of 0.158.
