Yow, that hurt!
The Griffith Joggers faced baking temperatures that reduced entry numbers at the weekly run at Scenic Hill on Saturday.
However, 55 mad Ferals still took to the course.
Adam Johnson was the headline grabber this week.
Extra precautions were taken by the organisers including stricter rules, more water stops, ice, water sprays.
The run ended in a pleasing fashion as everyone finished the course without incident – apart from the torture.
Adam Johnson was the headline grabber this week.
He kept out of sight of the rampaging Aidan Fattore who set the fastest time of 25:57 in fifth place.
It was the same time as last week but Johnson picked up his pace by over a minute this week.
No one is supposed to run faster in the heat but a few did this week.
They were possibly sensing weakness in the field and aiming to take full advantage.
Roy Binks at second was just a few seconds slower while Anthony Trefilo at third was also almost a minute faster.
However, that is his trajectory at the moment – up, up, up – look out Bacchus on the Lake.
Ed Frkovic was faster and deserved better than sixth thanks to his watermelons.
The same goes for Janet Mazzarolo at 29th with her icy poles and the emergency ice that was on hand.
Simon Fattore scored 25th despite running five minutes faster and must be taking training lessons from John Dodd.
There were just a small sample of juniors out on the short course and thankfully none were trying to set records.
It was left to the should-know-better adults to take the placings.
Nick Altin, Gerry Wilcox and Simon Croce were amongst the higher points and concluded at the end "that was enough."
Grantley Hodge at seventh survived the switch from sub-zero temperatures in the US to Australia’s heat wave.
The change must have thrown him and he forgot about that nasty rock out on the track which jumped up and bit him – luckily it's just a flesh wound.
