Exies Diggers captain Pat Whittard has asked for more from his batsmen in this Saturday’s Griffith District Cricket Association first grade match against Yenda at Wade Park after failing to fire in the last two weeks.
We started off well but we have dropped off a bit.
- Pat Whittard
Diggers started the second half of the season on fire with two scores above 180.
However, the past two digs have produced returns of 55 and 97.
“We started off well but we have dropped off a bit,” Whittard said of Diggers’ performances so far this year.
“I’ve been impressed with our bowling but our batting has been letting us down.
“When we bat well, we win more games than we lose so that’s something we’ll focus on and need to change.”
The loss of Dom Brown for the match will make it all the more harder for Diggers’ batting lineup.
Brown has the second most runs in the competition and Whittard said it was a big loss but was hopeful the top order would stand tall.
Jack Favell will also miss the match with a final lineup to be announced at training. The game starts at 1pm.
