RIVERINA has finished day three of the Kookaburra Cup on a winning note.
After a loss to Central Northern in the first of Wednesday’s Twenty20 matches, Riverina bounced back with an impressive victory over Newcastle at Griffith.
Riverina chased down Newcastle’s total of 8-73 with two overs to spare and five wickets in hand.
Connor Willis top scored with 17, while Sam Stening compiled a handy unbeaten 10. Sam Trower and Luke Heagney both got 12.
Kai Watts and Fergus Cattanach both snared two wickets.
In the earlier game, Riverina could only manage 51 in reply to Central Northern’s 6-86.
Watts was the pick of the bowlers with 3-21, while Errol Burns was also a standout, returning figures of 2-7 from four overs.
With the bat, Josh Mills top scored with 16, while Stening again offered resistance with seven not out.
