
Police have been left frustrated by the unwillingness to assist with investigation into two incidents at City Park over the weekend
At about 7pm on Friday, January 6 a male allegedly punched a 16-year-old male who was with a large family group, causing him to fall to the ground.
The alleged offender has reached into his backpack and retrieved bottles of alcohol and started throwing them at the 16-year-old.
A 21-year-old ran to get help and on return allegedly saw the alleged offender further assaulting the 16-year-old before intervening and was also assaulted before the alleged left the area.
Police attended and rendered aid to the 16-year-old male who was later conveyed to Griffith Base Hospital where he was treated.
The alleged offender is described as Pacific Islander in appearance, early 20’s, medium muscular build, about 165 – 170 centimetres tall, black hair with blonde highlights on the fringe.
In another incident at City Park a 24-year-old male backpacker was at the barbecue area at about 2am on Sunday, January 8 when he was met by a group of males requesting alcohol.
It is alleged one of the males hit the victim three times in the head causing him to fall to the ground and drop his money belt.
The male took the money belt containing a mobile telephone,wallet and a small amount of money.
The victim was taken to Griffith Base Hospital where he was treated for a laceration to his head and released soon after.
Police are working with the victim and his group to obtain a detailed description of the alleged offenders.
It is not believed the incidents are linked.

Police are also seeking assistance with a break and enter on Thompson Road, Hanwood between 1pm and 2pm on Friday January 6.
At this stage it doesn’t appear any items were taken but lots of furniture was damaged.
