DIGGERS have resumed the first grade season with the form they went into the break with after a comfortable win over Yenda.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Diggers got off to a great start thanks to Dom Brown (84) and Scott Smith (24).
The pair put on 79 runs for the first wicket before Smith fell to the bowling of Shaun Stubbs (1/40) and Leon Vico (0) followed soon after, dismissed by Andrew Potter (1/24).
Captain Pat Whittard (35) then came to the crease and proved to be a valuable partner for Brown as the pair lifted the score to 149.
By the time Yenda was able to dismiss Brown, who fell to the bowling of Matt Staines (1/43), Diggers had already posted 177.
Some late runs from Jack Favell (7) and Jason Hampel (3) helped boost the score to 5/183.
In reply, Yenda was never able to get going as they lost wickets early in the chase.
Craig Lugton (2/15) took the wickets of Simon Speirs (1) and David Cooper (2) while Mick Foster dismissed Ken Turner (5) to leave Yenda at 3/12.
Michael Turnell (27) and Shaun Stubbs (14) tried to get the team moving in the right direction with a 22-run partnership before Stubbs fell.
The wicket of Andrew Potter (3), who was bowled by Glen Faganello (2/19), brought Staines (13) to the crease.
He combined with Turnell again but once he fell to the bowling of Favell (4/26) it ended the fightback.
The last four wickets fell for 24 runs as Yenda were bowled out for 88 to hand Diggers a 95-run victory.
