Griffith basketballers Giordan Pastro, Micheal Zappala and Isaac Testoni have a busy schedule ahead of them with upcoming country basketball tournaments.
For Giordan and Micheal the first destination is Newcastle for the Country Development Tour (CDT) which will be followed by the Australian Junior Country Basketball Cup (ACJBC) in Albury the following week where Isaac will turn out for the NSW Country Kookaburras under 16s side.
The CDT is designed for the odd age players in country NSW. This year the metro sides from Sydney will be there also for the first time ensuring the CDT will be stronger than ever.
Isaac – who has one extra week to prepare – last represented at the cup in the under 14s tournament.
Teams from each state and visiting New Zealand sides will all be competing for the top spot at the cup.
The junior Griffith Demons have been well represented over the years with several players and coaches attending each of the tours.
The ACJBC and the CDT are pathways for country’s elite players to be selected to represent Country NSW at the national championships.
Players have been training continuously since the 2016 junior season finished and are ready to take on the country’s best at their respective tours.
The Griffith Junior Demons will all recommence training shortly for the Western Junior League 2017 tournament that starts in late February. Before that the gala day will see teams from Leeton, Narrandera and West Wyalong come together to prepare for the league.
