Held at Westend Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 21, the festivities will include traditional Indian dances, prayer services, fireworks and games.
Now in its sixth year, Griffith’s annual Diwali event marks the end of the five-day celebration also known as the festival of lights.
With almost 1000 revelers last year, organisers Satish and Ashish Patel are expecting the festival to reach new heights this weekend.
“It will definitely be bigger than last year, because our population is growing, Indian and Asian people love Griffith very much,” Satish said.
“We have people coming from Melbourne, Sydney, and also overseas celebrate with us.”
Diwali is an interfaith festival celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists around the world and symbolises the triumph of goodness over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

All are welcome at West End Stadium at 5.30pm to join in with the Laxmi Puja, which is one of the important rituals performed during the festival of Diwali.
Prayers are offered to the Goddess Lakshmi, so the New Year (Hindu New Year) is filled with peace, wealth and prosperity.
The event also honours the goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, and the legend of Rama and Sita.
Satish and Ashish Patel wish everyone a Happy Diwali and a Happy New Year.
