What on earth am I talking about?
The Griffith Musician’s Club Annual Ball, of course.
What else could it be?
The Muso’s Ball returns for another year with no signs of slowing down.
Griffith Musician’s Club president Pat Sergi said the ball was ready to rock n roll.
“We are all set to go, it’s our 18th annual ball and it has sold out for the 18th consecutive year,” Mr Sergi said.
“The success of it is because it’s something different to other balls.
“It’s in a historical old hall for a start and there’s 68 enthusiastic members who put together a great show.
“They put on a great production.
“It’s something different to how they would usually play on a weekly basis.
“It’s got the atmosphere of a big festival show.”
The event is one of the most popular events on the Griffith social calendar.
People of all ages head along to the packed-out hall each year.
Mr Sergi wanted to reiterate the fact that the without the members the show wouldn't be able to go ahead.
“It still sells out at the same rate but, once again, it’s the members that sell the event,” Mr Sergi said.
“We don’t advertise because we don’t have to.
“It keeps the people interested in the club.
“It’s a great comradeship amongst the musicians, they all mix together with other members on the night as well.”
Mr Sergi said younger people had started to flock to the event in recent years and there would be a special performance on the night.
“The trend has turned towards youth because we have more youth as club members,” he said.
“On the evening our youngest member, who is at the age of 16 and nine months, will be performing on stage with our oldest member, who is 77.
“That should be a highlight of the evening.”
The ball is bring your own alcohol and food.
The night’s festivities will kick off at the Woodside Hall tonight at 6.30pm with seven local bands and singers playing until 1.30am.
