After being driven down to the garden he slowly got out of the car, still unaware of why a group of people had turned their attention towards him.
Once he realised what was going on you couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.
“It was unbelievable, well and truly a shock,” he said.
“I didn't know what was going on, I told my mate not to stop here because they must be having a meeting or something.”
Not surprisingly he even had a story about the very same garden that now bares his name.
“I actually put these roses down,” he said. “I remember one night I went to bed and woke up in the morning and remembered I'd left the water here on so I raced down here, still in my pajamas and when I came back home I was all covered in mud.
“I worked 30 years and really loved the job, it's all just lovely.”
