Last week the undisputed queens of fund-raising, members of the Griffith
Base Hospital Auxiliary, took time out to draw the winner of their annual Christmas stocking raffle.
Stuffed with vouchers, jewellery, toys, iPods and even food items, close to 5000 tickets were sold.
Auxiliary member Heather Eagleton said without the support from local businesses the $5600 raised wouldn’t be possible.
“We need to thank all of the businesses who donated goods for our stocking,” she said.
“Also the members who sold the tickets.
“Take 5 for Kids donated to the auxiliary too and Soroptimists. Without the
generous people in this town we wouldn’t be able to raise the funds we do for our hospital.”
The lucky winners drawn last Monday were, first Dianne Burdett, second, Sue Warr, third, Rae Brown, fourth, Judy Brown and fifth, A Colpo.
The stocking raffle is the group's biggest fund-raiser for the year. They have 226 members who work in the hospital kiosk.
