GRIFFITH is in line to stage the 2015 NSW Masters Road Championships after winning rave reviews for hosting this year's titles.
Riders from across the state travelled to Griffith last week for the three-day event, which featured a road race (Saturday), criterium (Sunday) and time trial (Monday).
Griffith Cycle Club publicity officer Peter Budd, who won two medals at the titles, said the club had been asked to host the championships again.
"The CEO of Cycling NSW made the comments at the final presentation that he'd love for it to come back to Griffith again," he said.
"That's what we'll work towards. We've just got to work through a few things to make sure club members are happy to go through the effort again.
"I'm sure they will because it'll be easier the second time.
"The time of year will be the only issue, whether it's in September or another time."
In perhaps the best endorsement of Griffith's hosting credentials, Budd said the club had received plenty of positive feedback from competing riders.
"I'd say it was a massive success from that perspective," he said.
"They liked our restaurants, the town of Griffith, the whole community and the fact everyone was really friendly.
"They also really liked the courses and that all the events were in a stone's throw of each other.
"In previous years you had to travel 40 kilometres in different directions to get to the different events, whereas everything was right here in Griffith."
If the club does host the championships again, Budd said it would try to draw more spectators to the event.
"The only disappointing thing was that we didn't get more spectators for Sunday's criterium," he said.
"It was a free event for the public in town. While there were certainly some members of the public there, I thought there might have been a few more come down and take an interest.
"But that's something we can work on for next year."
Budd and other Griffith Cycle Club members will head to Ballarat this week for the national masters championships, which start tomorrow and run until Sunday.
