AT THE back of a farm some 40 kilometres out of Griffith sits a BMC truck.

It is inconspicuous, about 50 years old and at the moment has a giant water tank on it.

Looking at it you might think it had seen better days, but you probably wouldn't guess that pop-royalty had once graced the top of the truck.

Flashback to 1964 and this truck was zooming around the streets of Sydney.

Thousands of fans were screaming, frantically waving their hands in the air in the hope of getting a glimpse of The Beatles' fab four.

For a couple of weeks they were ferried around in the BMC.

Now, it has a quieter life, according to owner Ray Gullifer. Back in 1964 Ray's uncle, Alan Foy purchased the truck from BMC, then sold it to his cousin, Ray's father Patrick.

For the Gullifer's the truck is nothing special just a beat-about work truck.

"I still drive it," Ray said. "People expect it to be rusted up, but it was kept in the shed."

Seeing pictures of the truck in its hey day prompted Ray to come forward.

"It's just an old truck. It's still got the floor on it," he said.

However, the railing the famous four held onto has since gone. "It was only made out of a bit of pipe," he said.

Ray plans to hold onto the truck, but said he wouldn't mind if a fan wanted to buy it off him, for a starting price of $2 million, of course.
