About 1am on Friday, May 9 a 23-year-old male was standing on the corner of Kooyoo Street and Yambil Street when he was approached by another male.
It is alleged there was a short conversation between the two males before the victim was punched in the head a number of times.
The victim fell to the ground and the alleged offender fled along Yambil Street.
A 24-year-old male, who was nearby, attended the location and recognised the victim as a friend he had been with a short time earlier.
He then walked along Kooyoo Street towards Banna Avenue searching for the offender. He noticed a number of people in Banna Lane and approached them.
The 24-year-old was assaulted by these people and fell to the ground.
“This was a serious assault leaving two victims with serious injury,” a police spokesman said.
“If you have any information concerning the incident you may hold the key to prosecute those responsible.”
Detectives have interviewed a number of people but it is believed there were other witnesses who have not come forward.
If you have any information regarding this matter contact Griffith Police on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
