SNOWS Excavations were too good for East Griffith Pharmacy in Monday night's grand final, taking the women's division one championship with a classy 10-5 win.
Erin Bonetti scored five tries for the victors as Snows ran away with an impressive victory over a gallant Pharmacy outfit.
It was a win that was carved out in the early stages of the match as Snows opened up a 3-0 lead that was never headed.
Bonetti scored two of her tries in the opening minutes of the first half, either side of Lynnette Kelly's touchdown.
East Griffith Pharmacy heaped plenty of pressure on Snows but fumbled too often in attack, despite the best efforts of state representative star Kate Dreyer, who made it 3-1 just before half-time.
But any chance of a second half comeback was quickly stamped out as best and fairest player Jessica McDonnell and Kylie Pastro scored to extend Snows Excavations' lead to 5-1. To their credit, East Griffith Pharmacy was never truly out of it, and would have gone much closer to claiming the honours were it not for the three tries they surrendered at the start of the match.
Jenny Tyrell scored a double in the second half to keep East Griffith Pharmacy in touch but it was too little, too late.
